Qalandars defeats Gladiators to register first win in PSL 10

Lahore Qalandars defeated Quetta Gladiators by 79 runs at the Pindi Cricket Stadium to win their first PSL season 10 match.

Quetta collapsed under strain and were knocked out for 140 runs by the Qalandars, chasing 220. In the first over, Lahore captain Shaheen Afridi dismissed Saud Shakeel for one run. Quetta fell to 9-3 in 3.2 overs when Asif Afridi dismissed Hassan Nawaz for one and Shaheen dismissed Finn Allen for a duck.

The 45-run pair of Rilee Rossouw and Kusal Mendis provided some resistance. Mendis threatened with 28 off 14 balls before Haris Rauf broke the stand, lowering Quetta to 54-4 in the sixth over.

Rossouw, in superb touch, hit 44 off 19 balls with four boundaries and sixes. His counterattack was stopped by Rishad Hossain, who took his first PSL wicket. Sikandar Raza dismissed Shoaib Malik for 14 and Akeal Hosein for 14 in the same over, continuing the collapse.

Rishad Hossain took his third wicket by dismissing Mohammad Amir and Abrar Ahmed. The defending champions won by 110 runs as Asif Afridi cleaned out the tail.

First-batting Lahore lost Mohammad Naeem to Abrar Ahmed for 10. A 56-run partnership by Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique stabilised the innings. Before losing against Akeal Hosein, Shafique scored 37 quickly.

Fakhar scored his 20th PSL fifty, dominating with the bat. Daryl Mitchell contributed a calm, unbroken 37 in an 80-run stand. Abrar dismissed Mitchell again, then Fakhar after a magnificent 67 off 39 deliveries.

Lahore reached 200 runs after Sam Billings hit an unbeaten 50 off 19 balls. Billings’ stunning innings helped the Qalandars score 220 despite losing Sikandar Raza and Shaheen Afridi cheaply. Faheem Ashraf and Usman Tariq each took one wicket, while Akeal Hosein and Abrar Ahmed took two for Quetta.
