For the first time in Albania, children who are visually impaired had the opportunity to experience a theater performance up close, touching the set design and puppets, meeting the actors, and receiving more information before watching the described performance with audio.

The show “The Anger of Letters,” which had not been staged for 40 years, returned to the National Puppet Theater thanks to the EU4Culture program, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNOPS.

By investing in cultural heritage and opening doors for every child, the European Union makes it possible for lost stories to be told, felt, and lived again.

The premiere filled the Puppet Theater hall with children and parents. The children were excited by a new show with music and puppets, while some adults returned to enjoy the new version of a performance from their childhood.

At the premiere of “The Anger of Letters,” representatives from EUD/UNOPS were also present, as the show comes as a joint initiative of two projects supported by EU4Culture, “The Puppets of Heritage” and “ANNEX Labs.”

The youngest spectators became participants in the show with applause and by dancing in their own way during musical moments.

At the center of the story “The Anger of Letters” are Olsi and Ini, two boys who speak in abbreviations and carelessly. They take pride in having invented a “modern” Albanian, but this angers the letters, which decide to leave one by one from the dictionary, causing the boys to face difficulties and then return to the right path.

In this show, the actors Florian Kokona, Ilia Kaçi, Esmeralda Kame, Ermonela Alikaj, Erdit Asllanaj, Jorida Meta, and Madi Selimi performed.

The Eu4Culture program aims to revive and promote Albania’s rich cultural heritage, contributing to the sustainable social and economic development of the country. (September 22)
