PSL 11 Auction Gold Silver Renewals
The auction preparations of PSL 11 Auction have been the official start of renewing of local player category of the Pakistan Super League announced on Tuesday. The renewals have been announced before the historic PSL 11 Auction that will be held on February 11.
The PSL 11 Auction is significant in the sense that the league is going through a new stage. The tournament is now adding two teams after nine fruitful seasons with six. Plus, new franchises such as Hyderabad and Sialkot are going to be added.
The PSL 11 Auction has retained 33 local players under the Gold category. Karachi Kings are at the first position, having eight Gold renewals. Also, Peshawar Zalmi are closely followed by seven players. There are five each players in Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans, and Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United have 4 players that have been retained. The Gold category comprises a number of experienced players that have been delivering on in the past seasons of PSL.
The Silver group has 16 players who should be retained before the PSL 11 Auction. There are six players under the domination of Multan Sultans. Three have been retained by Lahore Qalandars, and Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi have two each. So, each player has one Silver category in Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators. These are considered as good homegrown talents who may assume larger roles in the next season.
The Emerging category consists of 14 national players that are retained by the franchises. It has three Emerging players in Islamabad United, Peshawar Zalmi, and Karachi Kings. Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans have been able to keep two and one player respectively. The new PSL 11 Auction system is likely to help these young cricketers to a large extent.
The PSL 11 Auction is a major change of the team construction method. Thus, the league is likely to increase competition over the best local talents with two new franchise already in the market. Franchises will be able to be more flexible by balancing experience and youth.
The future of the league is expected to be defined by the next PSL 11 Auction which will take place on February 11.
