Pat Cummins Reaches Key Milestones with Six-Wicket Haul

On Thursday, Australia captain Pat Cummins set many records by taking six wickets on the second day of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final versus South Africa, which is taking place here at The Lord’s.

The right-arm pacer, who took all five South African wickets that fell to a bowler on the second day of the last Test, became only the eighth Australian bowler to reach 300 wickets in the longest format. Cummins noted that obtaining 300 wickets is a major deal for any fast bowler because it signifies they have pushed through injuries and done well in a variety of conditions.

“It’s great, and I have some family here, which is nice,” Cummins told the host broadcast during the break between innings. “They were hitting the ball pretty well, so I’m glad we have a good lead in this first inning.”

“It’s a lot more than I could have hoped for. For any fast bowler, 300 is a lot. It implies you’ve had to deal with some injuries and aches and pains, but you’ve performed well in a variety of conditions.

“When the ball got a little softer, it didn’t feel like there was too much in it, but I still feel the odd ball nipping a little bit.”
