Mohammad Wasim Jr Dropped From Pakistan Squad
The fast bowler of Pakistan Mohammad Wasim Jr has been withdrawn out of the Pakistan T20I team in the remaining matches against Australia. On Friday, the decision was approved by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The PCB announced a short message regarding the release. There was no explanation as to why Wasim Jr was dropped out of the squad. The board said that fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jr was dropped off the Pakistan T20I team in the final two games against Australia.
Wasim Jr is 24 years old. He also played a major part in the recent tour of Pakistan to Sri Lanka. He was top in the team in terms of wickets taken in that series. His record was very high and took five wickets in two matches with an average of 12.20. He gave a performance that made Pakistan dominate in Dambulla.
Wasim Jr failed to make the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 despite his good performance. India and Sri Lanka will host the tournament between the period of February 7 and March 8. Also, his omission in the World Cup team might be among the reasons why he is released in the current series.
Wasim Jr also did not feature in the Pakistani playing XI in the first T20I with Australia. Pakistan was the winner of that match by 22 runs. So, Saim Ayub starred both with the bat and the ball in order to get the victory. Pakistan is at the moment winning by 1-0.
Mohammad Wasim Jr fans have shown dissatisfaction with the news. Also, his performance was acclaimed in Sri Lanka and people hoped that he could be more prominent in the Australia series. His speed and capability to get key wickets was deemed as important to the T20I plans of Pakistan.
The PCB has not yet given certain clarifications on whether Wasim Jr will play another series after the series with Australia. Analysts believe his unavailability would create an opportunity to other fast bowlers in the group.
