Asia Cup 2025: Who Will Join India in Super Four?

With the Asia Cup 2025 group stage almost coming to an end, India have already won the Super Four. The title holders secured qualification by defeating hosts UAE and their group rivals Pakistan, which left only one spot left in the Group A. Oman is already out of the contest after losing both their matches.
Pakistan vs UAE
The fight to secure the other Super Four position in Group A has been reduced to Pakistan and the UAE. The two teams are facing each other today, Wednesday, September 17, in a knockout match. The victor will advance to meet India on September 21, with the defeatant dropping out of the contest.
The race is more complicated in Group B. Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are still playing though Hong Kong have been done away with following three consecutive losses.
Sri Lanka, the former champions, have already conquered Bangladesh and Hong Kong. Their last group match on Thursday against Afghanistan will determine the power equilibrium. If Sri Lanka wins, it would mean that Bangladesh would also qualify. However, the margin will be essential if they lose. Even a close win would see them through; however, a huge loss can send them home.
In Afghanistan’s case, the solution is simple: They need to defeat Sri Lanka to make it to the Super Four. A loss will not only terminate their campaign, but it will also put Sri Lanka through with Bangladesh.
Bangladesh’s future is determined by the Afghanistan-Sri Lanka conflict. If Sri Lanka wins, Bangladesh qualifies. If Afghanistan wins, Bangladesh will require a large margin of victory so that the net run rate will favor them by diverting it.
In a match that does not affect qualification the group stage officially concludes on Friday, September 19, with India versus Oman.
Next Stage?
Super Four round is scheduled between 20 and 26 September, which establishes high profile matches between the most successful four sides. The finalists of this round will then fight the final that will be held on September 28.
As India is already in, all focus is now on Pakistan, UAE, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh as they continue to battle to collect the last three Super Four spots.
