Youth4Regions: young journalists visit the European Newsroom

Third time’s the charm: For the third year in a row, participants in the European Commission’s young journalists’ program “Youth4Regions” visited the European Newsroom. On Thursday (October 16), 46 young journalists from 33 countries explored why the enr exists, how it operates, and what benefits it offers to the agencies involved and the European public.

The venue for the discussion was the head office of enr partner agency Belga. For the young journalists and journalism students, this was already the sixth day of their stay in Brussels, which took place as part of EURegionsWeek 2025.They had already visited several EU institutions as well as media outlets like Euronews.

The participants had traveled to the Belgian capital from various EU member and candidate countries and from other countries such as Armenia, Israel, Tunisia, and the United Kingdom, as well as the Palestinian Territories.

Tim Kohnen and Christian Röwekamp presented the philosophy, tasks, working methods, and content of the European Newsroom and answered the many questions from the participants.

According to the EU Commission, since its launch in 2017, the Youth4Regions program has already enabled more than 250 young journalists to sharpen their craft, expand their networks, and gain invaluable insights into the world of EU journalism.
