Will PSL 11 Final Follow Kingsmen Momentum?
PSL 11 Final is already taking the shape of a battle of momentum vs consistency, yet Hyderabad Kingsmen captain Marnus Labuschagne is making it simple. He thinks that the final match against Peshawar Zalmi is a mere game, even though there is a lot at stake.
The surprise of the season has been Hyderabad Kingsmen. They began badly as they lost their first four games. A lot of people had already condemned them. However the team reacted fiercely. Their next eight games were won seven. This has seen them play their first-ever final in the Pakistan Super League.
Peshawar Zalmi on the other hand have appeared to be on top of the tournament. They won the table and only lost once in the league stage. Their victory over Islamabad United by a wide margin recently demonstrated their strength. They are experienced and confident in the final.
Labuschagne admitted that Zalmi is a good team. But he emphasized that his side should be concerned with their process. He referred to their last game with Zalmi. During that game, Kingsmen drove their opponents to the final ball as they held a decent score. This provides them with confidence in the final.
It will be a fight between momentum and consistency of Kingsmen and Zalmi. The late charge of Hyderabad indicates that they are able to take pressure. In the meantime, the consistent shape of Zalmi shows that they can win big games.
The PSL 11 Final is not only about talent. It is a matter of attitude. Kingsmen have a chance to compete with the favourites in case they follow their plan. Yet the experience of Zalmi may come in handy.
