Will Joe Root’s Reply Change the Ashes 2025-26 Rivalry?

Joe Root, England’s best batsman, has ignored what former Australian opener David Warner said about him before the Ashes 2025–26, which starts in November.

Warner, who is presently playing in The Hundred in England, recently asked Root about his record in Australia. Rooty is the main anchor there, and he hasn’t scored a hundred in Australia yet. Hazlewood usually knows his number. “Warner said, “He’ll have to remove the surfboard off his front leg.”

In response to a British news site, the right-handed batter said the comments didn’t bother him.

“That’s all. I can’t influence how people think about the game or talk about it in an interview. Isn’t that the same thing? He stated, “You know there are going to be storylines and people who want to hype up a big series.”

Doesn’t actually affect anything. I don’t really care about it. What can I do? He continued, “Just make sure it isn’t a topic of conversation in six months or 100 days.”

The 34-year-old said that his main goal is to help England get off to a good start.

He said, “When you get out there, you have to try to change the game and help your team get off to a good start.”

Root is the second-highest run-scorer in Test history, although he hasn’t scored a century in Australia yet. He has 892 runs at an average of 35.68. But since 2022, he has scored 15 centuries, which is an average of 64.64.

The Ashes 2025–26 will start on November 21 in Perth. After that, there will be a day-night Test in Brisbane, then one in Adelaide. The series will end with the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne and the New Year’s Test in Sydney.
