New Zealand made an overwhelming score in the first innings courtesy of anchoring centuries from Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, and Henry Nicholls against Zimbabwe at Queens Sports Club on the second day of the second Test here on Friday.

On day two at the stumps visitors were 601/3 trailing massively by 476 runs with Nicholls and Ravindra at the crease. The pair will set off to resume New Zealand innings on third day to enact a innings victory of Zimbabwe to win the series 2-0.

The visiting team had restarted the first innings earlier in the day of 174/1 at the loss of opening batsman Conway and nightwatchman Jacob Duffy.

The pair thwarted the Zimbabwe bowling and from the overnight score of 144 they proceeded to add another 61 runs before Duffy was finally dismissed by Vincent Masekesa after his own handy 36 comprising of six boundaries.

Then he was in a 110 third wicket stand with Henry Nicholls till he was cleaned up by Blessing Muzarabani. The batsman on the left hand side got 153 runs with 245 balls with the support of 18 fours.

After having been dismissed, Ravindra got a partnership with Nicholls in the middle and the pair worked in tandem to lead New Zealand into a comfortable position.

The two combined to score a record fourth-wicket partnership of 256 runs, which took New Zealand to a tally above 600 runs.

On the second day, Ravindra was knocking at 165 runs without being dismissed, off 139 balls, with 21 fours and 2 sixes and Nicholls had also scored 150 not out with the assistance of 15 fours.

As far as Zimbabwe was concerned, Masekesa and Muzarabani were the only two individuals who managed to take a wicket during the second day.
