The Romanian Minister of Agriculture: In the Agricultural Policy 2028-2034, four billion euros will be for integrating plant and animal production

Bucharest – The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Romania, Florin Barbu, has recommended farmers to combine crop cultivation with animal husbandry, considering that the future Common Agricultural Policy for the period 2028-2034 will emphasize the integration of these components.

The Minister was present on Tuesday in Zalău at an event organized by the National Rural Network, dedicated to farmers, beneficiaries of European funding, and central and local public authorities, to facilitate access to the funds of the Common Agricultural Policy. The meeting also aimed to identify solutions to the difficulties encountered in the process of absorbing European funds dedicated to agriculture and rural development.

During the meeting, Barbu highlighted some future strategies in the field of agriculture, so that farmers can prepare in advance for accessing subsidies and projects with European funding.

“I want to publicly announce today that in the next Agricultural Policy 2028-2034, over four billion euros from this policy will go towards animal husbandry, to integrate crops with livestock. You will no longer see subsidies in Romania for coupled support, on certain eco-schemes, unless crops are integrated with livestock. I do not want subsidies to go for coupled support or to other companies that are not even Romanian, but international,” stated Florin Barbu.

He added that there is an ambitious program underway for the development of processing in Romania, which requires raw materials from our country. (5.8.2025)
