Slovenia and Ukraine signed an agreement on financial cooperation

Kiev – Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon signed an agreement on technical and financial cooperation between the two countries with the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Taras Kachko during her visit to Kiev, aimed at supporting Ukraine in implementing reforms as part of its approach to the EU. Fajon was also received in Kiev by the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

As reported by the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Fajon and Zelensky agreed on the urgency of an immediate ceasefire and further escalation of pressure on Russia. They added that in light of this, they discussed the state of diplomatic efforts for a just and acceptable peace for Ukraine.

“Only Ukraine can decide on its future. No solution can be accepted without it,” emphasized the minister, who also discussed the European integration of her country with the Ukrainian president.

In this context, she signed a memorandum on technical assistance to Ukraine with the Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction Oleksiy Kuleba, and an agreement on technical and financial cooperation between the two countries with the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration Taras Kachko.

As stated by the Slovenian government, the purpose of the latter is to support the economic and social development of Ukraine and the implementation of reforms as part of its approach to the EU. It sets conditions for providing technical and financial assistance from Slovenia to Ukraine in implementing development programs and projects aimed at the reconstruction and modernization of infrastructure, increasing energy efficiency, environmental protection, strengthening public finance management, combating corruption, and developing science, innovation, healthcare, education, and civil society.

“This will strengthen our cooperation, increase the effectiveness of our development aid, and provide a solid framework for long-term partnership in the reconstruction and development of Ukraine,” said Fajon.

The minister concluded her four-day visit to Ukraine with a meeting with the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, who also thanked her for the support. (October 30)
