Salman Ali Agha Replaces Babar Azam Batting
T20I captain of Pakistan Salman Ali Agha has justified the decision to promote him ahead of Babar Azam in the batting order before ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
Babar was overtaken by Agha in the Sri Lanka series. In the third T20I which fell down by rain, he impressed all people. The right-hander had almost broken the record of the fastest fifty by Pakistan. He scored 45 runs off just 12 balls. His innings involved three sixes and five fours.
Salman once again came up in the first T20I with Australia at the Gaddafi Stadium. Sahibzada Farhan was hit by a duck on the second ball by Pakistan. Agha scored 39 from 27 deliveries. He hit four sixes and a boundary. His performance aided Pakistan to establish competitive cumulative total.
In total, Salman has been batting number 3 in seven matches. He has made 216 runs at a strike rate of 161.19. This is by far higher than his total T20 strike rate of 118.32. The fact that he has promoted Pakistan evidenced a clear increase in its top-order power.
Agha pointed out batting and bowling after giving Australia the 22-run lead in the first T20 I. “It was a great game. We had a good start with the bat but could not have the perfect finish. It was difficult after the tenth over. The ball ceased to come to the bat. Yet we were magnificent with the ball, remarked he.
