PCB Reveals Second Qualified PSL Bidder
Officially, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has introduced the second qualified bidder to the long-awaited Pakistan Super League (PSL) teams auction, in advance of the historic 11 th edition of the tournament. The declaration gives a boost to the expansion of the league by six to eight franchises.
The PCB has decided that the auction will occur on Thursday at the Jinnah Convention centre in Islamabad. The next season of PSL will commence on March 26 and continue till May 3, and this will represent a new era in the history of the league.
In a social media post, Pakistan Super League stated that the OZ Group of Companies was selected as a Bidder No. 2 of a set of 10 possible bidders. According to the league, the development was yet another important move towards the coming of a new era to the PSL.
This was not the first time that the PCB confirmed Inverex Solar Energy as the first qualified bidder in the same day, which only added more excitement to the auction. The multiple bidders confirmation creates a strong corporate trust on the commercial value and the prospects of the PSL.
The expansion comes after technical reviews of the proposals made by interested groups are done. One of them has been the Tareen Group, which is headed by businessman Ali Khan Tareen, an ex-PSL franchise owner. Tareen affiliated with Multan Sultans previously, which he purchased in 2018, and turned into the stable title competitor, with a title in 2021.
Nevertheless, the relationship between Tareen and the PCB worsened in the context of franchise renewing conditions and other issues regarding governance. He has previously been eligible to bid on one of the new teams after he left in late 2025 following a legal dispute.
Other potential competitors are the Karachi based telecom company VGO TEL headed by the CEO Naveed Gaba that has also joined the bidding competition.
Bidders will subsequently be successful subject to a list of home cities approved by PCB which will include Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad and Gilgit.
