Pakistan Faces Another Penalty in New Zealand ODIs

On Thursday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) punished Pakistan once again during the current three-match ODI series against New Zealand. For maintaining a slow over-rate during their 84-run second ODI loss against the Blackcaps, the green shirts have been fined five percent of their match expenses.
Although Jeff Crowe of the Elite Panel of Match Referees considered the time allowed, the ICC claims that he imposed the sentence on the visiting team after they were discovered one short of the required duration.
Regarding minimum over-rate offences, players are punished five percent of their match fee for each over their side fails to bowl inside the allocated time according Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.
By admitting the suggested penalties pleading guilty to the offences, Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan eliminated the necessity for a formal hearing.
For the uninitiated, this is the second time Pakistan has been punished for keeping a slow over-rate in the series after they were earlier forfeited 10% of their match fees for a similar offence during the series opening in Napier.
After considering time limits, the Rizwan-led side was found to be two overs short of the target. It is crucial to note that on Saturday in Mount Maunganui, Pakistan and New Zealand will square off in the third ODI.
Pakistan would strive to avoid a complete sweep by achieving their first victory in the nation since February 2011, hence there is plenty to play for even if the home team has already guaranteed the series triumph.
