Mindler acquires ieso Digital Health UK aiming to create Europe’s most advanced digital mental health platform

Mindler, a Stockholm-based digital therapy provider offering fast, flexible mental health access across the UK and Nordics, has acquired Cambridge-based ieso Digital Health UK. The acquisition brings together two of the most clinically advanced platforms in digital mental healthcare, creating an unparalleled offering for patients and buyers, including employers, health insurers, and public health bodies.

This acquisition applies solely to ieso’s UK telecare services business. The parent company, ieso, remains independent and focused on delivering quality mental healthcare through evidence-based clinical AI, continuing under the ieso brand.

ieso Digital Health UK has supported over 145,000 NHS patients to date through its online talking therapies and digital CBT, and will continue its work as part of Mindler. All UK contracts, including one third of the integrated care systems (ICSs) in England and a national contract in Scotland, will remain active. Patient data will stay securely managed by ieso Digital Health UK, adhering to NHS data governance standards.

Let’s talk numbers in mental health

Demand for mental health support is growing. Between 2023 and 2024, approximately 3.8 million people engaged with NHS mental health, learning disability, and autism services, up nearly 40% compared to pre-pandemic levels. According to Rethink Mental Illness, patients are eight times more likely to wait over 18 months for mental health treatment than for physical health care. The British Medical Association reports that 11.3% of full-time mental health roles remain vacant.

In contrast, a recent study by Mindler and Uppsala University found that 88% of patients using its digital therapy platform received timely care, and 86% felt supported in managing their mental health.

The expanded Mindler platform will offer live and asynchronous therapy in one system, combining Mindler’s pan-European reach with ieso’s AI-powered clinical tools and typed CBT model. This comprehensive offering is designed to help healthcare services manage capacity, reduce waiting times, and personalise care.

Erica Larson, Group CEO at Mindler, said: “ieso’s work in the UK has set a gold standard for scalable, evidence-based digital therapy. We are thrilled to bring their expertise, clinical insight, and NHS relationships into the Mindler group. Together, we will offer the most comprehensive digital mental health platform in the UK – one that supports patients throughout their care journey.”

Kent Tangen, CEO at ieso said: “We’re proud to have supported thousands of lives through ieso’s UK telecare services. That legacy will always be a part of who we are. With those operations now in excellent hands at Mindler, ieso is committed to building the future we’ve long envisioned: delivering safe, effective AI-powered mental healthcare at scale. Our immediate focus is in the US, but our mission is global. As AI adoption accelerates, mental health is emerging as one of its most urgent and natural use cases. The market is moving fast, and so are we.”

This move follows Mindler’s acquisitions of Finnish MedTech company Medified and UK-based The Sandbox. The company continues to scale its digital mental health services across Europe, with an emphasis on accessibility, clinical quality, and digital innovation.
