Madrid’s Anyformat closes €3.3 million round to scale its agentic OCR and data-sovereignty-focused document tools

Anyformat, a Spanish GenAI platform specialising in extracting and structuring complex data from any document, has closed a Seed round of €3.3 million to expand the engineering and product team, driving its roadmap in advanced extraction capabilities and the development of proprietary error detection models.

The round was led by Kibo Ventures and followed by 4Founders, Abac Nest Ventures and Decelera Ventures, funds that already participated in the previous round.

Juan Huguet, CEO and co-founder of Anyformat, says, “Documents are the backbone of any organisation. Our goal is to enable companies to analyse them with human intelligence, machine speed and the security required by regulation. We are building the new European document infrastructure.‘ (Translated).

Among European startups working on document processing, data extraction and AI-enabled enterprise automation, 2025 funding activity has been limited but illustrative: France-based Klaimy raised €1.2 million to advance its AI assistant for processing medical documentation, while Prague-headquartered Resistant AI secured €21 million in Series B financing to strengthen its document-fraud detection and financial-crime prevention systems.

Together, these comparable 2025 rounds amount to roughly €22.2 million, indicating that investor attention in this domain remains focused on specialised applications such as insurance, medical underwriting and fraud detection rather than broad, general-purpose document-infrastructure platforms.

In this context, Anyformat’s €3.3 million Seed roundpositions it as one of the few European companies pursuing a horizontal, generative-AI-based document-intelligence layer – particularly notable given the absence of other Spain-based fundraises in the category – adding meaningful weight to the still-emerging European document-automation landscape.

Diego Pérez, co-founder and CTO of the company, adds: “We are developing technology that goes far beyond document digitisation.” (Translated)

Founded in 2024, Anyformat is innovating a new generation of document infrastructure based on generative AI, which reportedly allows the operational teams of large corporations to work with complex documents with human precision and machine speed, while maintaining control of the data at all times.

Since its previous round, where it raised €520k in pre-Seed funding (as covered by EU-Startups), Anyformat has expanded its offering beyond classic extraction. Today, the company says they are the only provider that allows the information extracted from a document to be combined in real time with internal and proprietary company data.

This means that a contract, invoice or email can be analysed automatically while being cross-referenced directly with corporate databases, such as customers, policies, catalogues or history.

For organisations with complex documentation and fragmented systems, this capability eliminates manual validations, reduces errors and accelerates critical business processes.

This represents a real problem: according to Dell Technologies’ Innovation Catalyst report, 68% of Spanish companies are unable to convert their data into valuable information in real time.

The document intelligence market is entering a new phase driven by generative AI and agentic systems. Anyformat has developed a unique technology that allows companies to automate critical processes while maintaining data sovereignty, a key issue in Europe.

“The vision and talent of the founders, whom we know from their time at Clarity.ai, a company also invested in by Kibo Ventures, combined with the possibilities offered by AI in a huge market, were key factors in our decision to invest,” shares Javier Torremocha, co-founder and Managing Partner of Kibo Ventures.

Anyformat aims to exceed €1 million in ARR in 2026, supported by its commercial expansion in Europe and the increase in use cases linked to automation, compliance and advanced document processing.

In addition, the company will continue to invest in its privacy-first infrastructure, strengthening security processes and advancing certifications such as ISO 27001.

The company is positioning its Agentic OCR as the new standard for automating critical processes in organisations that cannot compromise on accuracy or data control.
