Indian Stars Avoided Pakistan Clash

In the second season of World Championship of Legends (WCL), owner Harshit Tomar said that Indian Champions players wanted to beat Pakistan Champions.
The global event, involving famous players from six top cricketing nations, has been in the spotlight since the Indian Champions withdrew from their matches versus Pakistan Champions. On July 20, the reigning champions were due to meet archrivals, but Shikhar Dhawan, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, and Yuvraj Singh rejected the match.
The tournament organizers called off the high-octane match hours after their reported refusal, giving both sides a point.
Pakistan Champions, last season’s runners-up, finished first after the league round, while India Champions finished fourth, setting up another heated match in the first semi-final.
India Champions refused to play Pakistan Champions, citing popular feelings, hence the knockout match was also called off hours before the start.
So, the Pakistan Champions proceeded to the final, where they will play the winner of the semi-final between South Africa and Australia later today.
WCL owner Tomar told an Indian journalist before the semi-final’s abandonment that a few India Champions players were devoted to beating Pakistan Champions in the league-stage match.
Some players commented, “Man… we wanted to beat them,” but I won’t mention names. We wanted a strong response. Some wanted to dedicate the win to the nation, added Tomar.
“Again, winning on the field shows patriotism.
“Some were against the match because of the righteous masses. Their sentiments are always right, so we must respect them.”
Harshit Tomar confirmed that the India Champions withdrew from the match against Pakistan Champions, but conceded it should have been communicated better, especially by the team instead of a player.
“It was a collective decision, but yes, it could have been communicated better,” Tomar said.
