India defeated Pakistan by a dramatic five wicket margin in the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium but refused to take their winners medals and trophy.
The Indian team is said to have declined to accept the silverware of ACC President Mohsin Naqvi, also the head of the Pakistani Cricket Board (PCB). The presentation ceremony was delayed for one hour and terminated without the champions on the podium.
Even after this tie, there was personal accolade, with Abhishek Sharma being declared Player of the Tournament and Kuldeep Yadav topping the wicket takers. The Cricket Board of Control (BCCI) is reported to have supported the move, while Naqvi was adamant about his position.
It was the scandal that dwarfed the effort by India to hunt down the 146-run total of Pakistan with the help of Tilak Varma, who was unbeaten at 69.
