European pork: China to impose provisional anti-dumping duties

Beijing – The Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated on Friday that imports of European pork are subject to dumping and announced the provisional imposition of anti-dumping duties.
The European Commission will take “all necessary measures to defend its producers and its industries,” reacted one of its spokespersons in response.
The two parties have difficult relations, exacerbated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, as the Asian giant is a key partner of Moscow.
An anti-dumping investigation into European pork was launched by Beijing in June 2024, shortly after the Union announced its intention to impose additional tariffs on electric vehicles made in China.
“The authority responsible for the investigation has preliminarily determined that imports of pork and pork by-products from the European Union are subject to dumping,” the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated on Friday, assuring that the Chinese industry has suffered “significant harm.” (September 5, 2025)
