Colin Munro Accuses Iftikhar Ahmed of ‘Chucking’ in PSL 10

Colin Munro’s appearance to question Iftikhar Ahmed’s bowling technique set the Pakistan Super League (PSL) match between Islamabad United and Multan Sultans on a stormy turn.

The argument started around the tenth over when Iftikhar bowled to the batter from New Zealand.

Munro blocked a strong ball and then gestured what viewers and pundits understood as an implication of “chucking”—an unlawful bowling move. Reacting angrily, Iftikhar went straight to report the incident to the umpires.

Before the umpires intervened to settle emotions, Multan Sultans’ skipper Mohammad Rizwan also had sharp words with Munro. By chance, Iftikhar had the last laugh when Bracewell removed Munro in the very next over—a wicket that caused a dramatic reaction from the batter in the dressing room.

Islamabad United was driven to a comfortable seven-wicket victory against Multan Sultans in the 13th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 here at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Wednesday by a disciplined bowling effort followed by Andries Gous’ undefeated half-century.

Targeting a modest 169-run mark, the visitors easily hit the winning runs for just three wickets and seventeen balls left.

But their in-form opener Sahibzada Farhan fell victim to Ubaid Shah the third over with 29 runs on the board, therefore starting the run chase from a different angle. Using three fours and a six, he could score 22 off 13 deliveries.

Experienced Colin Munro joined Gous in the middle and together they placed United in a commanding posture by accumulating 81 runs for the second wicket before compatriot Michael Bracewell bowled him in the 11th over.

On the other side, Gous carried his bat all the way through and returned unbeaten after top-scoring for United with a 45-ball 80, studded with six fours and five sixes.

For the uninitiated, Islamabad stays perfect with five wins out of five games and ten points on their record. Their next game on April 30 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore against Lahore Qalandars.
