Can Shahid Afridi Lead Pakistan Champions to WCL 2025 Victory?

Shahid Afridi, a former captain of Pakistan, has said that he is very confident in the Pakistan Champions team. He said that the team is determined to win the World Championship of Legends (WCL) championship this year.

On Friday, July 18, the second edition of the WCL will begin at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham. The first match will be between the Pakistan Champions and the England Champions. Mohammad Hafeez is taking over as captain of the squad this year from Younis Khan, who guided Pakistan Champions to the final in the first season.

When Afridi got to Edgbaston for a pre-match training session, he told Geo News that he liked the team’s balance and potential.

“We have a great team again. The team mix is quite powerful. Afridi remarked, “Last year we had a good first season, but this year we hope to win the tournament.”

“This time, we have more young players and a new captain to lead them. Last year, Younis Khan did a terrific job. This year, Hafeez is in charge. He went on to say, “The goal is to have a new legendary cricketer from the past lead the Pakistan Champions team.”

The highly anticipated match between the defending champions, India Champions, and Pakistan Champions is set to take place on Sunday, July 20, at Edgbaston. Afridi said that the meeting was important.

“Every game is important to us, but the games between Pakistan and India always have a different feel and excitement.” “I hope more fans will come to the stadiums to see us play,” he remarked.

Kamil Khan, the owner of the team, said he was hopeful before the tournament and that the team is ready to go one step farther this time.

“We came here with a new sense of purpose and will to win. We have a strong team, but so do all the other teams in the tournament. We want the second season of the WCL to be better.

There are a lot more fans this year than last year, and the competition has gotten tougher. The buzz is great, and every match will be just as hard, no matter who the opponent is.

Kamil stressed how important it is to have a lot of all-rounders on the team, especially when playing in England. He also talked about how the competition is a chance for players on the edge of the team.

“We have experienced players like Imad Wasim, Asif Ali, Umar Amin, and Hafeez as our captain, along with stars like Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik. It’s a fairly balanced team with a lot of all-rounders, given the players’ health and the weather.

We are also giving players who can still play for Pakistan but aren’t currently on the PCB’s radar a chance to do so. One example is Amir Yamin, who did so well in the first edition as well.

Arshad Khan, the head coach, talked about how fit the team is and how they are still playing competitive cricket.

This year, we have a mix of new and old players on the team, including Asif Ali, Hafeez, Umar Amin, and Rumman Raees, as well as seasoned players Wahab Riaz, Sohail Tanvir, Sohaib Maqsood, and Amir Yamin.

Most of these guys have played club cricket recently, and several have even played in domestic cricket. Our older players are also in great shape and totally fit. We also have some time to practice before the first game, which will help us fix any big problems.
