BCCI Files ICC Complaint Against Farhan and Rauf: WHY?

The boiling blood of the Asia Cup 2025 has been dirtying the pitch. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially complained against the Pakistan players Sahibzada Farhan and Haris Rauf on account of what it termed unacceptable on-field conduct.
According to the Indian media, the complaint was filed with the International Cricket Council (ICC) following the Super Four match involving India and Pakistan on September 21 in Dubai.
BCCI sources have indicated that the Indian team insisted on a disciplinary measure after the two players were accused of going beyond the boundaries of sportsmanship in a high-stakes game.
Farhan, who hit a key half-century, sparked a debate with a revealing dance in which he raised his bat as a gun. Social media was caught in the act, which sparked a lot of criticism, calling the act provocative and insensitive, as the act was caught on television. Haris Rauf, a fast bowler, also added to the tempers with his animated send-offs and bust-ups.
The Indian fans celebrated the sacking of an Indian batter, Sanju Samson, with what Indian fans termed as taunting gestures, with cheers of Kohli, Kohli ringing in the stands- a reference to the famous sixes of Virat Kohli at the hands of Rauf in the 2022 T20 World Cup. It has also been reported that Rauf insulted the openers Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma with offensive language, and they responded by batting calmly.
The episode adds another twist to a volatile tournament already characterised by complaints to each other. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) lodged a complaint with the ICC earlier in the week against Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav over his commitment of a past victory to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.
The ICC has recognized that both sets of complaints have been received, and they will watch the footage before deciding whether to hold hearings. India and Pakistan are neck and neck in the competition to win the title, and the most competitive game in cricket still makes headlines long after the boundary ropes.
