Adopted amendments to the Law on Electronic Communications for further alignment with EU legislation
Skopje – The Macedonian Parliament adopted the amendments and supplements to the Law on Electronic Communications, making an additional step forward in implementing the Reform Agenda and in fully aligning the national regulatory framework with the legislation of the European Union in the field of electronic communications.
The European Union, through the vision for the “Digital Decade 2030”, has set goals for a fully digitally connected society, including gigabit infrastructure and 5G coverage for all populated areas.
According to the Ministry of Digital Transformation, for the countries covered by the accession process, including North Macedonia, this requires continuous regulatory alignment and the creation of conditions for significant investments in very high-capacity networks.
The adopted amendments further clarify provisions of the Law, in accordance with the remarks and comments received in the harmonization process, with the aim of overcoming the identified “harmonization gaps” and ensuring a more stable, more predictable and EU‑compatible framework for the development of the sector.
