Wildfires in Spain: France sends two Canadairs

Paris (France) – France is sending two Canadair and one coordination plane to Spain on Thursday at the disposal of the Spanish authorities, who have called for help from the European Union in an attempt to control the wildfires ravaging the country, announced the French Minister of the Interior.
In a message posted on X, the French Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, specified that this mission is scheduled “to last two days.”
The Spanish Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, had requested EU assistance and the dispatch of two Canadair on Wednesday evening, indicating that there were a total of 11 level 2 wildfires (on a scale that has four levels) in his country.
Level 2 alert means a high risk of fire and involves the deployment of additional personnel, including military, and firefighting equipment.
The wildfires in Spain have resulted in three deaths since Tuesday. (August 14, 2025)
