WCL 2025 Semis: India Champions Secure Spot

India’s Champions and Pakistan’s Champions are set to face off again, as India won their semifinal position in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 by beating the West Indies Champions in a must-win encounter at Grace Road on Tuesday.

This will be the second time the two teams have played each other in the competition. India declined to play against Pakistan in their first planned match, hence it was called off.

India had to finish the chase in 14.1 overs in order to go to the knockouts after West Indies set a target of 145 runs. Also, India successfully chased down the target in 13.2 overs, with to a match-winning half-century from Stuart Binny and important contributions from captain Yuvraj Singh. This earned them a spot in the quarterfinals.

The champions of Pakistan, South Africa, and Australia had already secured their spots in the semifinals.

With four wins out of five matches, the Men in Green topped the points table with nine points and a net run rate of +2.452.

South Africa came in second with four victories and one loss, and Australia came in third with two wins and two losses in five games. India got the last slot in the semifinals by having a better net run rate than England and the West Indies, even though they only won one of their four matches.

India and Pakistan, two of the biggest rivals in the world, will play each other in a high-stakes semifinal in Birmingham on July 31. The second semifinal, which is between South Africa and Australia, will also be held on the same day and at the same spot.
