Von der Leyen acknowledges the “unique spirit of coexistence” of Spain on the 40th anniversary of its accession to the EU

Brussels – The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has celebrated Spain’s 40 years in the European Union with a message in which she acknowledges its contribution to “enriching Europe with its culture, its global ties, and its unique spirit of coexistence.”
“Across generations and regions, Europe has created opportunities and transformed lives,” the German conservative pointed out in a message written in Spanish and shared on her social media.
“Spain has contributed to enriching Europe with its culture, its global ties, and its unique spirit of coexistence,” she added.
The head of the community executive, who will not be at the institutional event at the Royal Palace tonight to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Accession Treaty to the EU, despite having been invited, thus commemorated that on June 12, 1985, “Spain bet on a common future.” (June 12)
