Transport infrastructure projects successfully passed the European Commission audit

Ljubljana/Brussels – All Slovenian transport infrastructure projects reviewed by the European Commission have successfully passed this review, the Ministry of Infrastructure announced on Thursday. In none of these projects did the auditors find deficiencies or errors that would require Slovenia to repay European funds.
For investments in transport infrastructure during the programming period 2014-2020, which financially concluded in 2024, a total of 706 million euros of European funds were disbursed through the state budget, according to the ministry. With the disbursed European funds, a total of 115 transport infrastructure projects were implemented along with state budget funds.
As explained by the ministry, the use of this money is subject to oversight by Slovenian auditing authorities, and in many cases also by the authorities of the European Commission. The latter conducted 29 audits in the field of transport infrastructure projects for the programming period 2014-2020, with the last one completed in June.
“At the Ministry of Infrastructure, we are pleased to note that no deficiencies or errors that would have financial consequences or would require Slovenia to repay the allocated European funds were found in any of the audited projects,” the ministry stated.
In the period 2021-2027, Slovenia is entitled to 1.18 billion euros of European funds in the field of transport infrastructure. (June 26)
