Top Tips for the Business Traveller in Bangkok

Hot, humid, bustling, vibrant Bangkok. An exciting city full of secret restaurants, rooftop bars, sweeping views, excellent street food, and an ever-growing list of superb Michelin guide and star restaurants. Chinatown is a hot swarming mele of incredible Jurassic-size seafood, sizzling woks, and the most incredible flavoursome dishes you have ever had in your life. Favourite dishes included the amazing crispy fried pork from Fikeaw Yao Wa-Rat and the dry smoked brisket Panang curry with grilled banana from Charmkrung. The level of cuisine is second to none and the bustle of this hot city makes it an incredible place to visit and live.
With the increase in expat tourism with remote workers moving to Thailand for the incredible lifestyle benefits, this town is not just a leisure destination but a global business hub.
With a plethora of incredible places to stay, these are my recommendations of the top 3 Bangkok hotels and residences:
137 Pillars Suites & Residences – Boutique Luxury for Special Occasions
An incredible all-suite 5-star hotel and residence with the highest tech appliances and most amazing service, 137 Pillars Suites & Residences is modern and luxurious. This gorgeous luxury boutique hotel boasts 34 state of the art suites and 179 luxury residences. The level of service is incredible with the wonderful hotel team will make extra effort to provide special treats and surprises if you book for a special occasion. The suites are incredible chic with a boutique feel and this hotel is the perfect place to book for a honeymoon, anniversary or special occasion. If you are considering moving to Bangkok or staying longer term, I would highly recommend looking into their private residences.
The hotel staff at 137 Pillars made our stay special. They provided the most thoughtful, excellent hotel service ever and their attentiveness was excellent.
Located in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit shopping, fashion and commercial district, 137 Pillars would be a perfect place to buy a residence or stay long term. The fully furnished luxury residences include Executive Studio, One-Bedroom, and Two-Bedroom residences. In addition to access to all the suite amenities, the residences include daily housekeeping, linen changing, 24 hours in-residence dining.
Inspired by the original designers of 137 Pillars House Chiang Mai, the Bangkok hotel interior design was done by P49 Design & Associates Co., Ltd. and the architecture constructed by Palmer & Turner (Thailand) Ltd.
In the suites, the colours and design accents reflect a classical style similar to a Ralph Lauren photo shoot. The gorgeous suite interiors boast high ceilings, mood lighting, large walk-in wardrobes with make-up table, floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking the Bangkok skyline, outdoor balcony, Bose sound system, 400-thread Egyptian cotton count bed linen atop the Posturepedic Ultra Plush bed, marble floor bathrooms, and large circular cream stone bathtubs (you can specially order a bubble bath to be prepared by your personal butler).
The two infinity pools are breathtaking. The rooftop infinity pool is available 24/7 only for suite guests and is a seamless view of water meeting the Bangkok skyline.
There is an infinity pool on floor 27 by the incredible Nimtr fine dining Thai restaurant. Beside the pool is a rooftop jacuzzi, changing rooms, and the 137 Pillars Pool Bar. This beautiful rooftop is also available for private dinners and events.
Nimtr has one of the best outdoor views of Bangkok and is an incredibly beautiful restaurant for dinner. The chef takes special care to meld local Thai ingredients with the fresh herbs they grow in their very own hotel garden. An incredibly special dish that stood out was the Kor Moo Yang – Grilled Pork Neck served with Vegetables, Sticky Rice and Tamarind Sauce with Roasted Rice and Chili Dressing. The food is just delicious, and the rooftop views are incredible.
137 Pillars also boasts the Baan Borneo Club for both breakfast and cocktails, Jack Bain’s Bar – a speakeasy bar that infuses English flair with Thai-inspired cocktails, and Bangkok Trading Post Bistro & Bar – a western/Asian fusion bistro with comfort food, coffees, pizzas, pastas as well as Thai dishes.

VIE Hotel Bangkok, MGallery Collection – Gastronomic Excellence
Hands down, the 5-star VIE Hotel Bangkok has the best in-room dining Thai food in Bangkok! (Favourites include the Krapow Ratchathewi and Fried Rice Krapow). No wonder the food is so superb, VIE also boasts a Michelin-star French restaurant called Signature Bangkok with a menu designed by Chef Thierry. There is also a sushi restaurant called YTSB – Yellow Tail Sushi Bar voted the best sushi in town. There is also a cool Piano Bar at the entrance where you can listen to live music, enjoy afternoon tea and simply sip coffee on the plush lounge seats. Their coffee bar La VIE Café VIE procures specialty craft coffee sourced from Northern Thailand. For all day dining, there is a relaxed restaurant called VIE Gastronomy where guests can also enjoy a splendid international buffet breakfast which merges European, Thai, and Asian dishes. (There is even home-made hot Roti in the mornings)
Besides the array of excellent cuisine, the fitness centre Fitness Club WE Signature Club is huge. It gives off a members club vibe with the top fitness equipment available, a wide array of fitness classes, and a buzzy atmosphere. Think London’s Equinox but in Bangkok.
You can access the outside rooftop pool right through the gym and enjoy cocktails poolside at The Edge Pool Bar.
Architecturally designed by Paris-based J+H Boiffils, the art deco interior design is showcased throughout the 154 duplexes, rooms and suites with bronze, rose gold and marble elements. All categories of rooms are spacious with huge beds, walk in showers, and floor to ceiling windows with views over the Bangkok skyline.
The VIE is a perfect place for a meeting, conference or major event. They have banqueting facilities that can hold up to 200 people and a vast ballroom. With the high level of cuisine quality standards and a Michelin star, the VIE would be the perfect place to host a special occasion or work soiree.
Just a 5-minute walk from BTS Skytrain station, the VIE is conveniently located in the city centre in the Pathumwan District. The hotel is close to shopping destinations such as Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Platinum Mall and MBK.
VIE feels like a hidden gem tucked away on a side street in the sprawling cosmopolitan chaos.

Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River – Stunning Design and Opulence
The Four Seasons might just be my favourite hotel group. With excellent customer service, attention to detail, and the most gorgeous uniquely designed properties, Four Seasons has it all.
What makes Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River stand out is the incredible architecture, interior design, art, and the immersion of water, light and greenery. Even the outdoor terraces have small pools of water seamlessly integrated into each edge of the exterior space with water plants which look like rice paddies. The gorgeous hanging metal art piece on the terrace reflects hues of red and purple when the sun sets. It is a place you can only understand the beauty of by going there. The architecture and design are led by Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston, who has created one of the most beautiful hotels in the world.
With enormous entrance ways, large al fresco seating, colourful art that reflects the balmy light, and surrounded by water, this resort is a peaceful oasis in the bustle of cosmopolitan Bangkok.
The Four Seasons overlooks the Chao Phraya River, a chic area which has been revived into the new cool creative district full of art galleries, boutiques and coffee shops.
With 299 rooms and suites, the hotel opened in 2020 and quickly garnered recognition as one of Bangkok’s top destinations for VIPs and celebrities who enjoy staying and even booking the venue’s Courtyard and Grand Ballroom for A-list weddings.
Accolades include being part of The World’s 50 Best Hotels, receiving two Michelin keys, and being included in the World’s 50 Best Bars for the Latin-inspired art nouveau designed BKK Social Club. The Four Seasons is a leader in luxury being lauded as one of the best hotels in Thailand.
The six restaurants are led Executive Chef Andrea Accordi who was previously at the eight Michelin-starred Four Seasons Hong Kong. The food is absolutely incredible. We had the best French pastries and French toast for breakfast at the Lake Como-inspired Riva del Fiume Ristorante overlooking the river.
The most special meal we had was Chef Tommy Chueng’s tasting menu at the hotel’s signature Cantonese restaurant – Yu Ting Yuan. With floor to ceiling windows looking out onto large obsidian-coloured rocks on reflective water pools, this golden restaurant is stunningly designed. The menu showcases the chef’s amazing talent for melding Cantonese staples like Peking Duck, Barbecue Pork, Crispy pork with mustard, Fish maw soup, with delicate ingredients and dried fruits. You can watch the steam from the live kitchen through the glass as you enter. The expert sommeliers recommend pairing wines and teas that compliments the meal perfectly.
The other restaurants include the excellent French patisserie Cafe Madeleine, fine dining French brasserie Palmier by Guillaume Galliot, farm-to-table Thai street food at Chao Phraya Terrace, international and Thai cuisine as well as specialty coffee at The Lounge, and the gorgeous poolside dining where you can order an incredible Wagyu beef burger by the award-winning infinity pool.
With six restaurants, one bar, a spa, fitness centre, fitness classes, physiotherapy centre, Urban Wellness Centre, infinity pools, meeting rooms, art gallery Art Space by MOCA, French patisserie, and a river shuttle that takes you to ICONSIAM shopping centre, there is no reason to leave. And you don’t have to. You can actually purchase one of the 1-5-bedroom apartments at the Four Seasons Private Residences next door.
