The Romanian president assures the president of the European Commission of Romania’s commitment to a strong and secure EU

Bucharest – The President of Romania, Nicuşor Dan, spoke on the phone on Tuesday with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, during which the head of state emphasized Romania’s commitment to a strong and secure European Union.
“This morning, I had a phone conversation with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. I thanked President von der Leyen for her kind words of congratulations and emphasized Romania’s commitment to a strong and secure European Union. I look forward to working with the European Commission to significantly contribute to the solutions that all European citizens need to address the challenges we face together,” Nicuşor Dan conveyed in a post on platform X.
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, congratulated Nicuşor Dan on Tuesday for his investiture as President of Romania, stating that “together” we must show everyone that “a strong Europe, with a strong Romania at its center, provides solutions.”
“I congratulated Nicuşor Dan on the phone,” Ursula von der Leyen wrote on her X account.
“Now you are the president of all Romanians. Together, let us show everyone that a strong Europe, with a strong Romania at its center, provides solutions. This is the noble work I want to do together with you,” she said.
Nicuşor Dan took office on Monday after taking the oath of office, thus becoming the fifth president of Romania since December 1989. (27.5.2025)
