The Republic of Moldova aims to sign the accession treaty to the European Union by 2028

Bucharest – “Romania’s support is vital for the accession negotiations to be completed by 2028,” said the president of the Moldovan Parliament, Igor Grosu, on Wednesday in Bucharest.
On a visit to Romania, he met with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and the President of the Senate Mircea Abrudean.
Grosu emphasized Romania’s role as one of the largest supporters of the European path of the Republic of Moldova, while Bolojan reaffirmed Romania’s firm support for the European integration of the Republic of Moldova and its accession to the European Union.
The meeting also addressed the political situation in the Republic of Moldova in the context of the parliamentary elections held last weekend, won by the pro-European party led by Igor Grosu, the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS).
On Monday, after the election results were announced, Romanian MEP Victor Negrescu, Vice-President of the European Parliament, commented that the victory of pro-European forces in the Republic of Moldova is a strong signal for accession to the European Union, and the Council must promptly approve the start of negotiations on chapters.
“As Vice-President of the European Parliament responsible for relations with the Republic of Moldova, I assure (Moldovans) of the full support of the European legislature. By the end of 2028, the accession negotiations to the European Union can be finalized,” Negrescu conveyed.
