The Ministers of Justice from Romania and France discussed the streamlining of procedures regarding European warrants
Bucharest – The meeting took place on Monday in Bucharest, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Justice, and the discussions highlighted the importance of the strategic partnership between the two states and the significant results achieved by the judicial authorities in combating cross-border crime, including through the work of joint investigation teams, cooperation among specialized prosecutors, and the use of the European arrest warrant.
The two ministers emphasized their joint commitment to developing projects under the Digital Europe Program, including initiatives related to the responsible use of artificial intelligence in public administration and judicial activities.
“The priorities discussed included strengthening bilateral judicial cooperation in criminal and civil matters, streamlining procedures regarding European warrants and the transfer of convicted persons, continuing projects in the penitentiary field, accelerating the digitalization of justice, and protecting the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary,” according to a press release from the Romanian Ministry of Justice.
The meeting highlighted the progress of DIICOT in dismantling organized crime and combating human trafficking, civil cooperation regarding the application of the Hague Convention and the protection of children’s interests, collaboration in modernizing the penitentiary system, and the challenges of modern crime dependent on the digital environment.
