The European Commission will take into account the ruling of the EU Court regarding Jourová’s visit to Slovenia

Brussels – Brussels will take into account the ruling of the EU General Court, which partially upheld the lawsuit of Slovenian MEP Milan Zver (EPP/SDS) against the European Commission regarding access to information about the visit of then Vice-President of the Commission Vera Jourova to Slovenia in 2023. As stated in Brussels, the implementation of the ruling is underway.
The EU General Court partially upheld MEP Zver’s lawsuit on June 18, in which he requested the annulment of the European Commission’s decision that partially rejected his request for access to documentation related to the visit of then Vice-President Jourova to Slovenia in early March 2023.
The court declared the Commission’s decision null and void in part, in which access to the redacted sentence from the document intended for the preparation of the Commissioner’s meeting with then President of the Constitutional Court Matej Accetto was denied.
In the remaining parts, the court rejected Zver’s lawsuit, including his claim that the Vice-President of the Commission, responsible for transparency, abused her powers.
The Slovenian MEP found the meeting between Jourova and then President of the Constitutional Court Accetto particularly controversial, which took place while the court was assessing the constitutionality of the amendment to the law on Radio and Television Slovenia (RTVS).
Zver stated on Saturday on the social network X that the Commission, two weeks after the ruling became final, “is still hiding a single point of conversation between Vera Jourova and Matej Accetto.”
“If the EU can ignore its own court, why should member states respect the rulings? Transparency for citizens, concealment for the Brussels elite. I do not accept such double standards!” he emphasized. (September 16)
