Swedish aid to fire-ravaged Portugal
Stockholm – Sweden will send two firefighting planes to Portugal, which has been affected by severe wildfires, says Carl-Oskar Bohlin, Minister for Civil Defense.
”Sweden remains committed to supporting EU member states through the union’s civil protection mechanism,” writes the minister.
Bohlin also expresses condolences for the people who have lost their lives in the country as a result of the fires.
Sweden has sent both personnel and firefighting planes to fire-stricken countries within the EU on several occasions, including sending two planes to Bulgaria in early August.
