Suryakumar Yadav Criticised for Handshake with Naqvi?

People said Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav shouldn’t have shaken hands with Mohsin Naqvi, the president of the ACC and the head of the PCB. The handshake after the Asia Cup 2025 captains’ meeting on Tuesday got a lot of attention on social media and in the Indian press.

A video that was shared online yesterday shows Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha and Suryakumar shaking hands and talking before the tournament.

People on social media said things like, “Shaking hands with Pakistan’s Interior Minister is completely disrespectful,” and “They have hurt our people, and he [Suryakumar] is shaking hands with them.”

The Indian media also reported on the event, which showed how upset people were online.

Users said that Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, has spoken things about India that have upset people, which has led to more criticism.

At the press conference before the competition, Salman and Suryakumar made it clear that they would not tell their players to tone down their hostility during games between the two teams.

In their Asia Cup 2025 campaign, the men in blue will play the UAE on Wednesday and Pakistan on September 14 at the Dubai International Stadium.
