Strikes on Kiev: the EU summons the Russian ambassador

Brussels – The head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, announced the summoning of the Russian ambassador after the strikes that hit EU premises, on the social network X.
“No diplomatic mission should be a target,” she stated after these Russian bombings that resulted in 14 deaths, including three children, according to rescuers. This summoning was to take place during the day, according to a spokesperson for the EU diplomatic service, Anitta Hipper.
“This is the deadliest drone and missile attack against the (Ukrainian) capital since July,” lamented the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, before the press. “It was also an attack against our delegation,” she added, and “that is why we will maintain maximum pressure on Russia.”
The offices of the EU mission were damaged by the explosion of two missiles, which hit Ukrainian buildings located about fifty meters away, Ms. von der Leyen specified. (August 28, 2025)
