Slovenian President in Sarajevo expressed support for BiH on its path to the EU

Sarajevo – The President of the Republic of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar began a three-day working visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday with a conversation with the Chair of the Council of Ministers of BiH Borjana Krišto. In the conversation, she expressed Slovenia’s support for BiH’s Euro-Atlantic path.

She emphasized that Slovenia encourages the implementation of the necessary reforms for this. BiH was, as she stated on the X network, marked as an important economic partner of Slovenia in the region and one of the most important partner countries of Slovenian development cooperation.

During the visit, she then expressed Slovenia’s strong commitment to stability in the region in a conversation with the High Representative of the International Community in BiH Christian Schmidt in Sarajevo.

On Friday, at the invitation of the member of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović, she will participate in the central memorial ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica at the memorial center in Potočari, where Bosnian Serb forces killed more than 8,000 Bosniaks in just a few days after the takeover of this UN-protected area on July 11, 1995.

The visit to BiH will conclude on Saturday at the Butmir military base in Sarajevo, where she will meet with members of the Slovenian Armed Forces who are serving in missions in BiH. She will also meet with the commanders of NATO forces in BiH and EUFOR. (July 10)
