Slovenia has made progress in achieving the EU 2030 digital goals

Ljubljana – Slovenia is ranked among the countries with a high level of ambition in the European Commission’s report on the state of the digital decade. In its recommendations for improvement, the Commission encourages Slovenia to accelerate measures to support small and medium-sized enterprises in adopting digital and advanced technologies, the Ministry of Digital Transformation announced on Tuesday.

In Slovenia, all 13 national goals of the digital decade are aligned with the EU goals for 2030. Of these, 63 percent are on track with the planned timeline, and the country has addressed 82 percent of the European Commission’s recommendations from 2024. “Among the key achievements, there is a significant increase in 5G network coverage, including in rural areas, and a steady growth of high-capacity optical infrastructure,” the ministry stated.

The report on the state of the digital decade 2025 highlights Slovenia’s progress in the field of artificial intelligence. The share of companies using it has nearly doubled compared to previous findings. There is also a significant emphasis on digital public services, which are accessible in Slovenia and close to the European average, both for citizens and businesses, they added.

“With the revised national strategy Digital Slovenia 2030, which includes 81 measures worth 685 million euros or 1.02 percent of GDP, Slovenia is solidifying its development path. Digital transformation also represents an important part of the recovery and resilience plan, within which 513 million euros are allocated for digital measures,” the ministry emphasized. (June 24)
