Second edition of ‘September Rentrée’ at the European Newsroom
For many journalists in Brussels, the summer break came to an abrupt end when the EU news cycle rapidly picked up speed as soon as the first week of September arrived. And with it – in true Brussels’ tradition – came the time for ‘back-to-work’ events to meet colleagues after a month of relative calmness in the European quarter of Brussels.
On Friday, September 12, the European Newsroom (enr) organised its September Rentrée, an evening at the office to meet colleagues for a drink, exchange the best summer stories and look ahead to what’s in store until the end of the year.
For this second edition of the September Rentrée, the enr welcomed around 20 guests from its participating news agencies – from Portugal to North Macedonia and from Germany to Slovenia.

The gathering coincided with the third anniversary of the enr, which was launched in September 2022. It has evolved ever since with more formats, more languages, and more agencies.
