Romania has inaugurated its largest photovoltaic park with state-of-the-art panels

Bucharest – The largest photovoltaic park in Romania, financed with funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), with a total investment of 55 million euros, of which 15 million euros represent non-reimbursable funding, was inaugurated on April 29 in Teiuş, Alba County. The project will produce enough clean energy annually to power over 25,000 households.
The photovoltaic park in Teiuş is a tracker-type installation, which allows the panels to automatically follow the sun throughout the day for more efficient energy production. A total of 120,276 photovoltaic modules have been installed. It will produce approximately 103.59 GWh of electricity annually and will contribute to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 37,000 tons.
The project was developed by Eurowind Energy, a Danish renewable project operator, in partnership with Teiuş Solar S.R.L.
The Danish group also announced another investment in a battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity of 116.96 MWh, worth approximately 43 million euros, of which 7.6 million euros are also PNRR funds. This storage infrastructure is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
MEP Siegfried Mureşan, Vice President of the European People’s Party (EPP), stated that Romania must prioritize the completion of mature projects funded through PNRR, given that it has received pre-financing and only three tranches from PNRR, placing it approximately in the middle of the ranking of member states. “My recommendation to the authorities is that all mature projects, which we are sure will be completed by the deadline of August 31, 2026, should be funded through the grant component, to ensure that we access all the funds due to us from the non-reimbursable funds component. The Government’s priority must now be to accelerate implementation,” he stated for AGERPRES, Siegfried Mureşan.
The MEP argued that in recent years Romania has developed with the help of European funds, which have led to an increase in the average income level four times compared to the time of accession. (30.4.2025)
