“Question Corner” goes European Parliament: interview with MEP Katarina Barley

A first for the European Newsroom and the European Parliament: A team from the enr has conducted one of its “Question Corner” video interviews within the premises of the European legislative body in Brussels. The interview was directed at Katarina Barley, a Social Democrat from Germany and Vice-President of the European Parliament.
Barley has been a member of the European Parliament since 2019.
Approaching the first anniversary of the current Parliament’s election, which took place from June 6 to 9, 2024, the interview focused on Barley’s experiences with daily parliamentary work and how these have evolved compared to the previous legislative term. Additionally, Barley answered questions regarding European consumer protection issues.
The interview was conducted by Tim Kohnen (enr core team) and Ivan Ilic (enr-member agency Tanjug).
As is customary, all news agencies participating in the enr received the video material, photos and transcript for their news reporting.
Following the interview, the material was shared with all enr agencies, allowing them to publish news pieces on their respective wires. The enr also produced a Key Story based on the interview. The video is also available on YouTube, LinkedIn and X.
The “Question Corner” interviews are a relatively new format within the reporting portfolio of the European Newsroom. They are characterised by their brevity and conciseness.
Previous “Question Corner” recordings have taken place in the enr office in Brussels. Moving forward, the series will feature more interviews conducted at the European Parliament, which will be labeled as “Question Corner – EP Edition.”
