pyannoteAI raises €8 million to build the first Language-Agnostic Speaker Intelligence Platform

Paris-based pyannoteAI, an innovator in Speaker Intelligence AI, today announced the successful closing of its €8.1 million Seed funding round to ensure that AI not only recognises words but also understand who is speaking, how they are speaking, and why it matters.

The round was led led by Crane Venture Partners and Serena, and renowned angels Julien Chaumond (CTO, HuggingFace) and Alexis Conneau (ex-Meta, ex-OpenAI).

Speech technology has advanced significantly, yet it still falls short of capturing the full picture. Voice is more than just words,” said Hervé Bredin, Co-founder of pyannoteAI and former research scientist at CNRS. “For a decade, pyannote technology has been leading the way in distinguishing speakers and voices in real-world conversations—especially in high-stakes environments where every voice must be heard.

About 2024, pyannoteAI is pioneering Speaker Intelligence AI, transforming how AI processes and understands spoken language. With its speaker diarisation technology as a core, pyannoteAI provides a solution to unlock the next generation of enterprise-grade speech applications and real-time speaker intelligence.

Its speaker intelligence platform starts by distinguishing speakers with reportedly unmatched precision, regardless of the spoken language.

The company believes that conversational audio analysis is the foundational layer for all industries processing voice, providing key insights in sectors such as transcription—for customer service, healthcare, and meetings— and dubbing for audiovisual content.

Yet, understanding voice beyond words remains a major technical challenge, according to pyannoteAI, due to the inherent complexity of spontaneous speech and the vast amount of information conveyed by voice beyond just words.

With an open-source foundation reportedly powering 100,000+ developers worldwide, boasting 45 million monthly downloads on HuggingFace, pyannoteAI is now launching enterprise solutions to meet growing industry demand.

We’re bringing enterprise-grade Speaker Intelligence AI to businesses that depend on voice data,” said Vincent Molina, Co-founder of pyannoteAI. “Our goal is to make speaker-aware AI as seamless and universal as speech itself.”

pyannoteAI platform drives dubbing and synthetic voice creation in media production, ensuring precision and natural flow across all languages.

With this new funding, pyannoteAI will accelerate its expansion in the United States and Europe.

As the old saying goes, ‘it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it’—and in the world of Voice AI, that distinction has never been more important. pyannoteAI’s groundbreaking approach to Speaker Intelligence AI is setting a new standard for how businesses process and extract value from spoken data. We, at Crane, are thrilled to back a team that is redefining the fundamental layer of voice technology,” added Morgane Zerath, Investor at Crane Venture Partners

“pyannoteAI is redefining the way businesses harness voice data, turning raw speech into actionable intelligence. The team’s expertise in speaker diarization is unparalleled, and their transition from open-source leadership to enterprise-grade AI solutions marks a pivotal shift in the Voice AI landscape. We, at Serena, are excited to back their journey in making Speaker Intelligence AI a fundamental layer of modern voice technology,” said Matthieu Lavergne, Partner at Serena
