Pope Leo XIV Creates AI Working Group and Prepares First Encyclical on Artificial Intelligence
Pope Leo XIV has created a Vatican working group on artificial intelligence and will present his first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, on May 25. The document addresses human dignity in the age of AI and will be presented alongside Anthropic co-founder Christopher Olah. The commission brings together seven Vatican bodies to coordinate ethical reflection, internal governance, and policy harmonization. This initiative positions the Holy See as a central moral voice in the global AI ethics debate.
