Pakistan Veterans Announce 2025 T20 Squad
In a move that will unite some of the most prominent former international and veteran players of the country, the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA) has selected an 18-member national team to participate in the IMC Over-40 T20 World Cup 2025. Former test cricketer and Chief Selector of the PVCA Ijaz Ahmed Faqih revealed the squad.
Abdul Razzaq who is a former all-rounder will be the captain of the side. Razzaq, the Pakistani representative in 343 international matches, recorded more than 7400 runs and above 380 wickets in his brilliant career. The squad has also included Shahid Afridi, the all-rounder who has played 524 international matches, scored more than 11,000 runs as well as taken more than 540 wickets.
Fawad Alam has been recruited as the vice-captain which will offer stability and power to the middle order considering his over 2,000 international runs experience. There are also such important bowlers as Sohail Khan, Zulfiqar Babar, Tabish Khan and ex-wicketkeeper-batsman Humayun Farhat that contribute experience and depth to the squad.
The mentor will be legendary Javed Miandad who will provide his cricketing experience and leadership to the veterans, and coaching will be headed by the former Test cricketer Jalaluddin. Azam Khan has been hired as team manager, which completes the team management in the tournament.
The chairman of PVCA Fawad Ijaz Khan was confident in the capabilities of the squad and said, “This team is the best of the best in the veterans of Pakistani cricket.
