Pakistan U19 Clinches Historic Asia Cup
The Under-19 Pak cricket team wrote history as they won the ACC Men Asia Cup 2025 by beating India by 191-run margin in the final. The young Green Shirts were an all-round display with the example of defending a huge 348-run target and bowling India out at only 156 in 26.2 overs.
Sarfaraz Ahmed, former captain of Pakistan and the U19 team mentor, condemned the actions of the Indian team in the game terming them as unethical and in bad taste in regard to sportsmanship. In a press conference, Sarfaraz said: India did not act well in regard to the game and the act of the Indian team in the sport was unethical. But we did it in a sporting manner since cricket always requires the ability to respect.
It is important to note that as the players celebrated their success, Sarfaraz reported that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered a cash reward of rupee 10 million to every player on the team to recognize the first-ever title of the ACC U19 in the history of the country. The Prime Minister has highly complemented the players and these young stars will keep Pakistan proud, he added.
The mentor praised the team about the hard work and singled out middle-order batter Ahmed Hussain, who had made gutsy 56-run out of 72 balls, and sameer Minhas, who had scored the most with a blistering 172 runs of 113 balls including 17 fours and 9 sixes. The innings of Ahmed Hussain was important as the innings of Sameer Minhas, remarked Sarfaraz.
Head coach Shahid Anwar emphasized the planned training that contributed to the victory. The that began on June 17 with seventy players participating in a talent hunt, then they were given trials and finally, a ten-day camp in Karachi, with the help of former cricketer to hone the team skills.
