Pakistan’s second warm-up match of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier here on Monday resulted in a thumping five-wicket triumph against West Indies thanks to a combined bowling performance followed by half-centuries from Muneeba Ali and Natalia Parvaiz.

Pursuing a modest 189-run target, the green shirts effortlessly hit the winning runs for the loss of just five wickets and 23 balls to spare, so confirming their winning momentum ahead of the crucial event set to run from April 9 to 19 over two venues here.

Vice-captain Muneeba and Natalia, who struck anchoring half-centuries in the run chase, set the standard for Pakistan.

With 87 from 113 deliveries, Muneeba top-scored; Natalia made a 60-ball 53. Gull Feroza gave the pair a sensible 28-run knock-through support.

Batting first, the West Indies could build 188/8 in their allotted 50 overs as they battled a disciplined Pakistan bowling attack headed by Sadia Iqbal, who returned excellent 3/21 bowling numbers.

While skipper Fatima Sana, Diana Baig, and Rameen Shamim chipped in with one scalp apiece, Nashra Sandhu supported her with two wickets for 47 runs.

With an undefeated 68-run knock, Shabika Gujanbi stayed the top scorer for West Indies; Jannillea Glasgow was the other notable run-getter with her 41.

With seven wickets and 187 balls left to spare, Pakistan’s five-wicket triumph was their second in as many warm-up events since they had trounced Thailand.

For the uninitiated, the Qualifier will start with the curtain-raiser between hosts Pakistan and Ireland on April 9; West Indies will play Scotland at the LCCA the same day.

The top two teams by the end of the league-stage matches will join Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka and hosts India, who qualified for the World Cup by finishing in the top six of the 10-team ICC Women’s Championship (2022–25).
