Nicuşor Dan: Romania will continue to be actively and constructively involved in all European debates

Bucharest – The President of Romania, Nicuşor Dan, reaffirmed on Wednesday, at the meeting with the ambassadors of the EU member states in Bucharest, Romania’s firm commitment to its pro-European path and to strengthening security and defense in the current geopolitical context.

According to the head of state, the implementation of the measures from Defence Readiness 2030, the increase of military mobility and the SAFE program remain priorities for Romania.

“Today, I had a substantial discussion with the ambassadors of the EU member states in Bucharest. I reaffirmed Romania’s firm commitment to its pro-European path and to strengthening security and defense in the current geopolitical context. I emphasized the importance of strengthening European defense, in full complementarity with NATO, as well as the need to continue the efforts started at the European Council in October. The implementation of the measures from Defence Readiness 2030, the increase of military mobility and the SAFE program remain priorities for Romania,” wrote Nicuşor Dan, in a post on Facebook.

He showed that he also discussed the importance of strengthening European economic competitiveness and the need for an ambitious EU budget after 2027, which would maintain cohesion and agriculture policies as essential pillars of convergence.

“Romania will continue to be actively and constructively involved in all European debates, in order to identify the best solutions to current and future challenges,” the Romanian president further conveyed.

In his post, the head of state thanked the ambassadors for the “open and meaningful dialogue” and wished Cyprus, which will take over the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union in January, much success in its activity. (3.12.2025)
