Naqvi Calls Urgent ACC Meeting in Dhaka Amid India’s Objection

Sources told Geo News on Thursday that the Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) Annual General Meeting (AGM) will still happen on July 23 in Dhaka, Bangladesh, even if the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) didn’t want it to.

The conference was called by ACC President Mohsin Naqvi, and it was the first one of its kind in Bangladesh in a long time. But there were worries about its future because the BCCI and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) were against it and wanted the location and timing to alter.

The ACC, which is led by Naqvi, is likely to keep Dhaka as the venue, even though some members are not happy about it. This is because the ACC’s schedule coincides with the upcoming three-match series between Pakistan and Bangladesh, which means that many ACC members would be in the city at the same time.

Because of this, the council has sent a formal invitation to all of the member countries with a 15-day notice. They have also made it possible for people to attend the conference electronically.

A source from the ACC said, “Online meetings are now the norm around the world. Even the ACC and ICC have held a few in the past.” Last month, it was revealed that the much awaited schedule for the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 will be released in July.

A report says that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a strong candidate to host the coveted tournament because the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the BCCI are at odds.

Indian news outlets also said that if everything goes according to plan, the tournament will probably start in the second week of September, with September 10 being the date that is most likely to be set.
