Matovič: Fico should direct his paths to the western EU countries that invest in us

Bratislava – The Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Robert Fico (Smer-SD), should direct his working visits to the countries of Western Europe and EU countries that are significant economic partners of Slovakia. This was stated on Sunday by former Prime Minister and leader of the Slovakia movement, Igor Matovič, in response to the announced working visits of the prime minister’s delegation to the Central Asian republics of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, where Fico wants to strengthen bilateral relations, TASR reports.

“It would be appropriate to make courtesy visits to Germany, France, and EU countries from which we receive the most foreign investments and whose companies employ tens of thousands of Slovak citizens and which have helped us the most to improve our standard of living,” Matovič commented on Fico’s plans, who believes that Slovakia is losing investments from the mentioned countries.

“The Prime Minister should have gone to Germany and asked why Volkswagen canceled a huge investment in the production of a small electric car in Bratislava. It is no secret that he did this because of the transaction tax and increasing fees,” Matovič stated.

According to Matovič, the effort to develop bilateral relations with countries outside the EU is also a consequence of the fact that the Prime Minister has lost credibility on European soil and there is no interest in meeting with him.

The Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, who on Sunday led a delegation of ministers and entrepreneurs on an official visit to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, announced that the main goal of the trip is to deepen bilateral and economic relations between Slovakia and both countries, focusing particularly on the defense industry.
