JVP’s Erel Margalit Named Chairman of ControlUp as Company Targets Global Growth

ControlUp, a leading global provider of Digital Employee Experience (DEX) management software, has named Erel Margalit as Chairman of its Board of Directors. Margalit is the founder of Jerusalem Venture Partners (JVP), one of Israel’s leading venture capital firms and an early investor in ControlUp.

The appointment comes as ControlUp accelerates efforts to expand its footprint in international markets and build on recent momentum in the fast-evolving DEX sector. The company’s software, which helps IT departments monitor and manage user experience across digital workplaces, is currently used by more than one-third of Fortune 100 companies. Its platform has gained traction in mission-critical sectors such as healthcare, financial services, retail, and government – where uninterrupted digital performance is essential to daily operations.

Margalit’s career spans decades of involvement in Israel’s tech ecosystem. Through JVP, he has backed more than 160 companies in sectors including cybersecurity, AI, fintech, and enterprise software. He played a key role in the growth of cybersecurity firm CyberArk, and has been involved in major exits including QlikTech and Cogent Communications. Under Margalit’s leadership, JVP has also led a dozen companies to IPOs on NASDAQ and helped orchestrate some of the largest exits in the Israeli tech industry. He currently serves as chairman of several high-growth tech companies, including ThetaRay, Earnix, and Centrical.

“Erel has been a strategic force behind ControlUp from the beginning. As our initial and largest shareholder, he deeply understands our vision to lead the enterprise DEX platform category and shares our bold ambitions for growth,” said Jed Ayres, CEO of ControlUp. “As we double down on innovation, intelligent automation, and global expansion, Erel’s leadership and perspective will be instrumental in helping us become the undisputed category leader in DEX.”

ControlUp’s offerings are part of a broader shift within IT management toward improving digital working environments, particularly in the wake of remote and hybrid work models. Its platform integrates real-time monitoring, AI-based automation, and IT operations tools into a unified solution that aims to detect, prevent, and resolve issues that impact employee productivity.

The company refers to this vision as “Autonomous Endpoint Management,” which seeks to reduce reliance on manual intervention and streamline IT processes across complex enterprise environments. As workplace technology stacks grow more complex, ControlUp is positioning itself as a critical layer in ensuring digital continuity and performance across distributed organizations.

In a statement, Margalit said the growing emphasis on employee experience within organizations presents an opportunity for tools like ControlUp’s to gain broader adoption. “Just as companies came to understand the value of customer experience, they are now recognizing that employee experience is just as critical – directly impacting performance, productivity, and organizational quality,” he said.

Margalit’s appointment follows ControlUp’s recognition for the second consecutive year as a Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for DEX Management Tools. With increasing enterprise demand for proactive IT management and digital productivity solutions, ControlUp plans to further expand across North America, EMEA, and Asia Pacific. Margalit is expected to play a central role in guiding the company’s global strategy, shaping key partnerships, and supporting potential future acquisitions. His appointment signals a broader effort to scale the company’s influence in enterprise IT and sharpen its competitive edge in the DEX market.
